MIT Wrestling finishes 16th at the NCWA National Duals
The MIT Wrestling team traveled to Lynchburg, Virginia this past weekend to compete in the NCWA National Duals. MIT won 1 dual meet and lost 5. MIT had to Forfeit 5 weight classes each match. Senior, Captain Joe Lowman was 5 and 1 on the weekend. He lost a tough 8-2 match to the number 3 ranked wrestler in the NCWA. Joe finished the day with 2 pins, 1 major, 1 decision and 1 forfeit. Junior Matt Chun went 4 and 3 on the weekend. Senior, Jose Velrde went 3 and 3 on the weekend. Freshman, Ryan Shubert was 2 and 4 on the day. Ryan had a tough draw as he wrestled 3 All-Americans on the weekend, including the number 1 ranked wrestler at his weight. Sophomore, Jonathon Brown was 2 and 3 on the weekend and Sophomore Frank Soucy was 1 and 3. Even though we did not win many dual meets, the guys wrestled very well and are constantly improving. The team travels to UNH on Sunday, February 5th for the New England Championships.
